NPL Latest: Academy First Team pipped at the post

The PGFC Academy suffered late agony at Lark Hill on Saturday as high-flying Stirling Macedonia scored three times in the final eight minutes to secure a dramatic 3-2 win.

After a goalless first half, Glory hit the front early in the second when Khoa Ngo rounded off a rapid breakaway with a composed, close-range finish.

And the home side appeared to have made the game safe 12 minutes from time as the in-form Daniel Bennie tapped home a Jayden Gorman cross to make it 2-0.

Dejan Spaseski’s header swiftly halved the arrears, however and sparked a remarkable comeback from the men in red.

In the first minute of stoppage-time, Kingsley Eshan reacted quickest in a crowded box to rifle a low shot past Robert Cook and Stirling claimed maximum points with virtually the last kick of the game as Sammim Fattahi converted from the spot.

PGFC Academy First Team Line-Up: 1.Robert COOK (GK), 2.Kaelan MAJEKODUNMI, 3.Andriano LEBIB, 4.Shade STEWART, 5.Judd MACDOUGALL, 6.Laat MATHIANG, 7.Daniel BENNIE, 8.Matthew GEORGE, 9. James OVERY, 10.Corey SUTHERLAND, 12.Khoa NGO

The Academy Under-18s had earlier got the day off to a spectacular start by securing an emphatic 9-1 win, with Santiago Flores and Max Uvarov sharing four of the goals between them.

The Under-20s then fought out a 1-1 draw which, like the 18s, sees them remain top of their competition table.

All roads will lead to Lark Hill yet again on Saturday (29th July) as Inglewood United will provide the opposition with the usual kick-off times of 11am (U18s), 1pm (U20s) and 3pm (First Team).
