New Academy U18 and U14 Head Coaches Appointed

The club is delighted to confirm the appointment of two new coaches within the PGFC Academy.

Ivan Zuvela will be the new Head Coach of the Under-18s, while Alun Vernals will take up the same role with the Under-14s age group.

The highly-qualified duo bring a wealth of experience and local knowledge to their respective positions having coached extensively at NPL WA and State League level.

A WA State Team and Melbourne Knights representative during his playing days, Zuvela has spent the last three years working as Head Coach of Western Knights and in 2020, was named Football West State League Coach of the Year.

Set to embark upon his A-Licence course later this year, he is excited at the prospect of continuing his coaching journey with Glory.

“I’d like to thank those at the club for giving me the opportunity to take on this important role,” he said.

“The thing for me is to continue the professional approach that is currently in place.

“I am here to maintain the high standard and I will be looking for players to bring in a work ethic that is second to none.

“This includes their personal character and the attitude they bring.”

Vernals, meanwhile, enjoyed a hugely-successful spell at Bayswater City after joining the NPL WA club in 2013.

In addition to steering the Under-20s to numerous pieces of silverware over the course of five years, he also worked as First Team assistant.

Like Zuvela, he is thrilled to now be involved with the PGFC Academy.

“I’m looking forward to the next challenge in my coaching career,” he said.

“I loved every minute in my previous role, but can’t wait for what’s ahead.

“Hopefully I can continue to improve as a coach over the next few years.”
