FFA have today confirmed that Glory’s Hyundai A-League home game against Sydney FC has been moved from Saturday 31st March to Thursday 29th March.
The kick off time for the Round 25 clash at nib Stadium has also been changed to 6.30pm WST.
The switch has been made as part of FFA’s stated aim to support the international ambitions of the clubs who will represent Australia in the 2018 AFC Champions League.
The change also deliver on FFA’s commitment to Hyundai A-League clubs – made in June last year – to enhance player welfare by extending the time between matches throughout the busy AFC Champions League period, while still fulfilling obligations to the competition’s key stakeholders.
“In addition to implementing two split rounds [rounds 20 & 22] from the outset to assist clubs during the 2018 AFC Champions League Group Stage, we have worked closely with all clubs and our partners to make these changes,” explained Head of the Hyundai A-League, Greg O’Rourke.
“They will help the clubs involved to be even more competitive in the AFC Champions League and we thank all stakeholders for working with us to accommodate the moves.”
The Glory – Sydney FC fixture will now be a stand alone fixture on what is Good Friday eve.
