My All Stars Team

Selecting an All Stars side isn’t easy, you need to be able to handle the power of Manchester United, and that is no easy task.

It’s not an easy task selecting an All Stars side, even once the field has been narrowed down to 35 and a big part of it is selecting players who can handle what the Red Devils will bring to the table.

The biggest challenge is thinking about how Manchester United play and what system will show ourselves in a good light.

Having said that this is a fantastic concept and Im finding myself torn between players who performed well but have just retired or are older and the players who performed well and may have a great opportunity to show what they are capable of.

The latter option is the one I think might be best, although maybe that’s just my current job coming out in me.. So in saying that here is what I will go with in a 4-4-2 formation.

1. Mat Ryan – Goalkeeper with a nice future ahead if he makes the right next steps.

2.(RB) Ivan Franjic- Was heavily involved in a Brisbane Roar team that did not shine all season. He did as right back and also as an attacking wide right player.

3.(RCB) Trent Sainsbury – As good as any central defender this season and was a regular. Reads the game extremely well and after so many have had chances he may well be a real contender for the national team in the future.

4.(LCB) Nikolai Topor-Stanley- Natural left-sided defender which will give good balance to the back four. Enormous for the Wanderers all season

5.(LB) Joshua Rose – Modern day fullback who is highly effective defending and attacking. Has a real timing of when to get forward.

6.(CMR) Mark Milligan – Clever passer of the ball and knows the role of protecting the back four. Experienced.

7.(RM) Youssouf Hersi- Huge work rate and ability to win ball in dangerous forward areas and to play the right pass have made him a standout this season. Can also score goals.

8.(CML) Liam Miller- Very intelligent player. Want somebody who will try be creative in there. He certainly can be.

9.(LM) Thomas Broich – Possibly his best position coming in from the left and inviting challenges. Can play the killer pass and would work well with combinations of Del Piero inside and Rose bombing forward outside.

10. (CF) Daniel Mcbreen – The striker has got to score goals. He has done it all season and with a smile which means a happy footballer. Would love to show people he still has the hunger and is good enough at the top level.

11.(CF) Alessandro Del Piero- Playing just off the front and between the lines. Superstar of the game, bring on set pieces.

Subs: Covic- Great, experienced goalkeeper.
Michael McGlinchey – Versatile and very clever footballer
Archie Thompson- Can make a real impact in these type of games. Loves a big stage.
Michael Thwaite- Can play in quite a few positions so keeps options of change open.
