Don’t worry if you’re feeling a bit deflated now that Christmas is over… there’s plenty of Glorious summer football coming your way this week!
Sydney in their sights
Glory’s Hyundai A-League squad enjoyed Christmas Day off but were back on the training track come Boxing Day preparing for Saturday’s away clash with Sydney FC [kick off at 4.50pm WST].
And while aware of the quality in their ranks, Head Coach Kenny Lowe is relishing the challenge of taking on the reigning champions.
“They’re obviously a very good side and are particularly strong at home,” he said, “but we’re heading over there off the back of consecutive wins and are really looking forward to it.
“The lads have trained well this week, there’s a good buzz around the place and a quiet confidence within the group.”
Lowe went on to confirm that the fitness of Shane Lowry and Xavi Torres is being monitored as both attempt to overcome groin injuries, while skipper Andy Keogh is in contention to start after his goalscoring appearance off the bench against Brisbane Roar.
And Liam Reddy has recovered from the head injury that forced him from the field at Suncorp Stadium.
Friday on their minds
Bobby Despotovski’s Westfield W-League side, meanwhile, are gearing up for a crunch, top-of-the-table clash with Brisbane Roar at Dorrien Gardens on Friday evening [kick off at 7pm].
The visitors are currently two points clear of second-placed Glory at the top of the ladder, but the women in purple may hold a psychological edge having beaten the Queenslanders 4-1 at Suncorp Stadium back in Round 2.
It promises to be a thriller that may ultimately decide the minor premiership and don’t forget that kids go FREE!

Youngsters on Reds alert
And a busy few days of football get underway tomorrow [Thursday] when our Foxtel Y-League side take on Adelaide United at the Marden Sports Complex.
John Gibson’s charges will be looking for revenge having been edged out 2-1 by the Reds when the two sides met back in Round One.
Kick off is at 8am WST time and we’ll keep you up to date with the game action via Twitter.
