International Glory galore

Brandon Wilson shouts for Olyroos

A host of Glory players are currently excelling at various levels for the Australian national team.

Brandon Wilson skippered the Olyroos in both of their recent friendly games against New Zealand and was joined in the side by fellow-Glory man Nick D’Agostino.

Trent Ostler, Daniel Walsh and Joshua Rawlins, meanwhile, are currently away in England where they have been playing in a friendly tournament for the Under-17s.

Ostler scored in the side’s opening game against England which also saw Rawlins feature, while Walsh was handed the captain’s armband for the second game when the young Aussies took on South Korea.

Rawlins will certainly be clocking up the air miles because along with Glory team-mate Aiki Tsukamoto, he has also been selected for the Australia squad that will participate in this month’s AFC U-16 Championship qualification matches in Hanoi, Vietnam.

And three players who have been in and around Glory’s Westfield W-League squad, Hana Lowry, Tijan McKenna and Isabella Wallhead, are among five WA representatives named in the Westfield Matildas squad for this month’s 2019 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Thailand. 

Under-20s’ charge continues

Under-20s celebrate Cup Final win

The PGFC Academy Under-20s remain on course to secure a unique treble this season after securing their place in the NPL WA Top Four Cup Final.

The youngsters, who have already retained the Belt Up State League Reserves Cup and claimed the league title, beat Cockburn City 3-2 in last weekend’s Top Four Cup semi-final at E&D Litis Stadium.

The Under-20s Top Four Final will take place this Saturday (14 September) at Inglewood’s Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium with a kick-off time of 12.15pm.

Meanwhile, commiserations to the Under-18s who lost 3-1 in their Top Four Cup Preliminary Final clash with Stirling Lions on Tuesday evening.

Glory v Jets - Bruno Fornaroli solo

There has been no shortage of cake and candles at Glory HQ this week, with Bruno Fornaroli, Ivan Franjic, Jackson Lee and the one and only Sam Kerr all celebrating birthdays.

Many happy returns to all four and also to Jacob Tratt who will be celebrating this coming Saturday.
