“We just have to go and win the game.”
That is Head Coach Kenny Lowe’s plain message ahead of Friday’s crunch clash with Newcastle Jets.
While a Brisbane Roar win over Western Sydney in their meeting on Saturday would end Glory’s hopes of reaching the finals even if they were to down the Jets, Lowe insisted that he and his charges are not dwelling on events beyond their control.
“What will happen elsewhere will happen,” he said. “We’re doing what we always do which is focusing upon ourselves and letting everything else take care of itself.
“We’re in good form, with the only team to have beaten us recently being one that has lost maybe three or four games in the last two seasons. The squad has trained well this week, we’ve finally got good competition for places across the board and there’s a quiet confidence within the group that we can go over there [Newcastle] and get the result we need.”

In terms of team news, Brandon Wilson has unfortunately failed to recover from a virus in time for the game, with Jake Brimmer travelling in his place, but Diego Castro is expected to shrug off a bout of gastro and be passed fit to play.
Glory will be looking to maintain a superb record at McDonald Jones Stadium which has seen them go unbeaten in their last nine visits, but will be up against a Jets side that has lost only three of its 13 home games so far this term and has already locked in a second-place finish.
