Defender Shane Lowry was named Glory’s QBE Most Glorious Player 2017/18 at the club’s end-of-season awards event held at Crown Perth on Friday evening.
Glory’s vice-captain topped the final points leaderboard ahead of Diego Castro and Alex Grant and in doing so, joined Michael Thwaite and Dino Djulbic as the third centre-back to claim the honour in the last five years.
On a memorable night for the 28-year-old, he also took out the Players’ Player of the Year and Best Clubman awards.
The women’s QBE Most Glorious Player Award, meanwhile, was won by the club’s Westfield W-League skipper Sam Kerr who picked up another prize in the form of the Golden Boot having scored 13 times in nine games.
Adam Taggart collected the men’s Golden Boot and saw his Round 27 effort against Brisbane Roar win Goal of the Year, Yagoub Mustafa was named Most Glorious Youth Player, Diego Castro won the Volunteers’ Player of the Year Award and the long-serving Shannon May took out the Women’s Coach’s Award.
More than 400 people attended the event, including the club’s newly-appointed CEO, Tony Pignata, while new Hyundai A-League Head Coach Tony Popovic sent a video message.
