Lowry named in extended squad for FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup

Glory’s Hana Lowry has been named in the extended Young Matildas squad for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022.

The 19-year-old midfielder is one of 23 players who will travel to Mexico on Wednesday to participate in a 10-day pre-tournament camp which will include a closed-door match against Mexico’s U20 Women’s National Team on 26 July.

A further nine shadow players will continue training with their respective clubs, including Glory’s Alana Jancevski.

The final 21-players that will represent Australia at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup will be chosen in late July and then travel to Costa Rica on August 1st, where they will continue their preparations, including a further closed-door match against Colombia’s U20 side ahead of the tournament.

Lowry was part of the Under-20s squad which participated in the AFF Women’s Championship earlier this month and scored in the 4-1 win over Singapore.

In total, the Perth local has made 32 Liberty A-League appearances for the club, while Jancevski featured seven times in what was her debut season in purple last year.
