Lowe pleased with pre-season progress

“Another good hit-out” was the way Glory Head Coach Kenny Lowe described Wednesday night’s 4-0 pre-season victory over Cockburn City.

Chris Harold, Joel Chianese, Mitch Nichols and substitute Jacob Italiano all found the net as the visitors proved too strong for the PS4 NPLWA side at Dalmatinac Park.

Nichols and Jake Brimmer both caught the eye with strong performances in midfield, while Shane Lowry impressed with his distribution from the back.

And with the start of the new Hyundai A-League season now only a little over a month away, Lowe declared himself pleased with the progress that his side are making.

“It was a good night for us,” he said. “We came through without any injuries and managed to get some more game time into most of the lads.

“I thought we looked sharp at times and it was great to see a lot of our members and fans down there supporting us. Credit to Cockburn as well for giving us a good game and providing a playing surface that was in such great nick.

“It was just unfortunate that we weren’t able to get any game time into the likes of Liam [Reddy], Andreu, Diego [Castro] or Taggs [Adam Taggart].”

Lowe went on to confirm that Taggart missed the game after cracking a rib in training.

Glory’s next fixture is likely to be the traditional clash with the WA State Team, although the venue for that game is yet to be confirmed.
