Inglewood friendly ends all square

Inglewood friendly ends all square

Glory’s pre-season preparations continued on Thursday evening as Ruben Zadkovich’s men fought out a 0-0 draw with Inglewood United at Inglewood Stadium.

A strong starting eleven, which included last season’s top scorer Bruno Fornaroli, soon had the hosts on the back foot where they would remain for most of the game.

Fornaroli and John Koutroumbis both flashed long-range efforts over the bar before the former drew the first of a number of fine saves from home ‘keeper Alex Dunn with a dipping free-kick.

Chad Nilson did then call Liam Reddy into action at the other end with a low shot, but normal service was swiftly resumed as Fornaroli was again denied by Dunn with the last kick of the opening period.

Zadkovich made three changes at the break, with Cameron Cook, Ben Azubel and trialist Jacob Dowse all introduced and Glory thought they had broken through seven minutes into the second period, only for Girodano Colli’s effort to be ruled out for offside.

Eight more substitutes were introduced on the hour-mark, including Carlo Armiento who made a welcome return after nearly a year out through injury and he swiftly came close to celebrating in style as his low shot crept narrowly wide of the target.

Fellow-substitute Matt Hatch then drew two more impressive blocks from Dunn as Glory pressed hard for a late winner, but with Ben Azubel’s last-minute overhead kick flying just the wrong side of the post, it was not to be.
