Glory can confirm that Chris Ikonomidis has unfortunately sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that is expected to rule him out for between nine and 12 months.
The 24-year-old forward suffered the injury shortly after coming off the bench during the second half of last Saturday’s Hyundai A-League game against Melbourne Victory.
“Obviously we’re all hugely disappointed for Chris,” said Glory Football Director Jacob Burns.
“It’s always difficult when a player suffers a serious injury, but we have an excellent medical team here at the club who will go above and beyond to provide him with all the assistance and support that he needs to make a full recovery.”
Those sentiments were echoed by Glory Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata.
“The club will provide regular updates on Chris’ progress via all its media platforms,” he said, “and we look forward to seeing Chris back in action and back to his best sooner rather than later.”
Everyone at the club sends Chris their best wishes for his recovery.
