Homegrown defensive quartet back on board for 2024/25 ALW season

Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that homegrown defenders Izzy Foletta, Grace Johnston, Bella Wallhead and Mischa Anderson will all be part of the club’s squad for the 2024/25 A-League Women’s season.

24-year-old Foletta returns for a fifth campaign in purple having taken her tally of ALW appearances to 36 by featuring on ten occasions last term, while Wallhead, who debuted for the club in 2019, will be out to force her way back into the matchday squad having unfortunately missed the whole of last season due to injury.

Johnston, 19, has also recently returned from injury having made a big impression in what was her maiden senior campaign last year and fellow-teenager Anderson will be targeting a first-team debut having continued her development with Perth RedStar in the NPLW WA during the ALW off-season.

Glory Head Coach Stephen Peters believes that each member of the defensive quartet can play an important role in the upcoming campaign.

“It’s fantastic to have these quality local products forming such a key part of our squad,” he said.

“Izzy is a versatile and hard-working player who brings plenty of experience having played extensively both here in Australia and in Europe, while Grace enjoyed a lot of game time last year and we’ll be looking for her to build on that foundation and push on again in her second senior season.

“Bella and Mischa are also talented defenders who are hungry to establish themselves at ALW level and it’s been pleasing to see Mischa perform so well for Perth RedStar over the last few months.

“Providing a platform for the best WA players to represent their home-state club is a key part of our philosophy and I’m sure our Members and fans will enjoy watching Izzy, Grace, Bella and Mischa do exactly that this season.”

Further squad announcements will be made shortly.
