Highly-rated young forward joins ALW squad on long-term deal

Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that highly-rated young forward Milan Hammond has signed a long-term deal with the club.

The 18-year-old, who is a member of the Future Matildas program, played much of her youth football with Newcastle Jets and is currently representing Blacktown Spartans in the NPL NSW.

Equally adept operating as a winger or a central striker, Hammond is widely regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in the country and she is excited to be taking the next step along her career path with Glory.

“Signing with Perth has given me the chance to work with exciting top players and coaches,” she said.

“I am looking to improve my football through the direction and guidance from [Head Coach] Alex Epakis to become a better player on and off the field.

“Overall, what Perth is doing is really exciting and positive and I am looking to join in on the action.

“Throughout this new chapter I want to become a player of impact and show people what I can bring to this team, as well as being a solid contributor to the team’s success.

“I’m really looking forward to working with all the players throughout the squad, am excited for pre-season and the season to start and I want to hit the ground running.

“I’ve heard so much about Perth and how beautiful it is and I can’t wait to be there.”

Glory Head Coach Alex Epakis believes that Hammond will prove to be an excellent acquisition for the club. “Milan is such an exciting attacking player,” he said, “and she stood out to me at a number of elite Junior Matilda camps and games.

“She is very dynamic, a real attacking threat and will certainly be someone who adds something different to our style of play.

“Milan is coming to the club for the long term and she is someone whom I believe will certainly develop and evolve into a well-rounded professional.

“I know that she is very eager to showcase her ability and work extremely hard for the team and the club and I am looking forward to assisting her with that.”
