Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that 18-year-old central defender Zach Lisolajski has signed a two-year deal with the club.
Widely regarded as one of the brightest young defensive prospects in the country, left-footed Lisolajski is a regular member of the Young Socceroos squad and is expected to feature for Trevor Morgan’s side at July’s AFF Under-19 Youth Championship.
He made his A-League debut for Western United earlier this year and added a further five senior appearances by the end of the campaign.
Before joining United on a youth development agreement in 2023, Glory’s latest recruit was in the Newcastle Jets Academy and also played State League football for Sydneham Park in his native Victoria.
Lisolajski is excited to be part of a new era at Perth Glory.
“After speaking with [Glory Football Director] Stan Lazaridis, whom I admired as a left-sided player, I was impressed with his belief in me,” he said.
“With a lot of hard work and the belief that I have in my ability, I hope to be a starting eleven player and develop more as a footballer with the support from the coaching staff and my teammates.
“I expect Perth Glory to be playing Finals football next year, which is a place where we know the club belongs.”
Lazaridis, meanwhile, is confident that Lisolajski will be an excellent addition to the squad.
“Zach’s an absolute machine at the back, a no-nonsense defender,” he said.
“He is someone that will need a little bit of developing, but with a bit of experience playing alongside him, he’s another one that I can see going on to play senior international football in the future.
“As a left-footer, Zach gives us another option and that extra bit of balance at the back and he’s another new recruit that I’m really excited about.
“Once he does a good pre-season and gets used to the style of play, I think he’s going to be great.”
The following players are now under contract for 2024/25: Oli Sail, Cameron Cook, Robbie Cook, Josh Risdon, Riley Warland, Kaelan Majekodunmi, Andriano Lebib, Zach Lisolajski, Jacob Muir, Luke Bodnar, Jarrod Carluccio, Trent Ostler, Mustafa Amini, Brandon O’Neill, Jaylan Pearman, Khoa Ngo, Adam Zimarino, Adam Taggart, David Williams.
Contract negotiations are ongoing with a number of other first-team squad members and further announcements will be made shortly, along with details of new player signings.
