Highly-rated local duo sign ALW contract extensions

Perth Glory is delighted to announce that talented local duo Georgia Cassidy and Grace Johnston have both signed contract extensions with the club.

Since debuting in October 2023, 20-year-old Cassidy has developed into one of the most highly-rated young central midfielders in the competition, chalking up 35 senior appearances.

The Australia Under-17 and Under-20 international opened her A-League goalscoring account with a typically composed finish in last season’s Round 2 victory over Newcastle Jets and ended the campaign by taking out the club’s Members’ Player of the Year Award.

She has now penned a two-year contract extension.

Johnston, meanwhile, was similarly impressive last season, making 22 starts to take her appearances tally for the club to 36.

Renowned for her athleticism and tenacity, she formed a vital part of the Glory defence and also contributed an assist in the opening-round clash with Melbourne City.

The 20-year-old has now signed a one-year contract extension.

Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis believes that the pair, who have also been teammates at NPLW level with Perth SC, will continue to be key figures for the club in the coming years.

“Georgia and Grace are two of the best young players in their respective positions in the country in my opinion,” he said, “and we are thrilled that they will continue to be mainstays in our ALW side.

“We are committed to giving local Perth players the opportunity to prove themselves at A-League level and Georgia and Grace have certainly seized their opportunities with both hands.

“We’re really excited to see them continue to develop while proudly representing their hometown club and I’m sure our Members and fans are too.”

Further squad announcements will be made shortly.
