Gulls next on Night Series agenda for Academy First Team

The PGFC Academy First Team will be looking to secure back-to-back wins when they take on Sorrento FC in Round 4 of the NPLWA Night Series at Inglewood Stadium on Sunday (kick-off at 5pm).

The youngsters secured their first victory of the pre-season competition on Friday evening courtesy of an incredible late comeback against Perth RedStar.

Although Mitch Oxborrow had curled home a stunning free-kick in first-half stoppage-time, Glory found themselves 3-1 down with just three minutes of regulation time remaining.

But after Shade Stewart found the net from a corner, Laat Mathiang converted a penalty to level it up and four minutes into stoppage-time, Josh Anasmo struck to make it 4-3.

Glory had previously lost their opening two games of the Night Series to Ingelwood United and Olympic Kingsway.

Following Sunday’s clash with Sorrento, who have picked up four points from their three games to date, the Academy First Team will take on Cockburn City on the final round of the group stage.
