The finals have effectively started two weeks early for Glory’s Westfield W-League team who must win Saturday’s clash with Canberra United at Bunbury’s Hay Park to keep their top four hopes alive.
So the stakes could hardly be higher for Bobby Despotovski’s side who are determined to get back to winning ways against their old nemesis from the capital.
But Canberra are also desperate for three points as they aim to lock down their own place in the finals and with a bumper crowd expected to flock to Hay Park, it’s shaping up to be an unmissable afternoon of high-quality, high-stakes football.
Superstar striker Sam Kerr will be leading her Glory side from the front and she believes the women in purple have what it takes to secure the victory they need.
“We’re all really looking forward to playing in front of our supporters from the south-west,” she said.
“We’ve been made to feel so welcome since we got down here on Thursday and we’re confident we can reward our members and fans by producing a good performance and picking up the three points.”
