Goalkeeper Sutton signs for Glory on short-term contract

Perth Glory is pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Matt Sutton has signed for the club on a three-month injury-replacement contract.

The 25-year-old has been added to the squad after Mark Birighitti sustained a knee injury in training.

Sutton progressed through the youth ranks at Melbourne Victory before switching to Melbourne City for whom he made his A-League debut in May 2021.

After three seasons with City, he moved to Western United and enjoyed a stellar campaign last year when he made 29 starts and recorded the fourth-highest number of saves in the league with 74.

Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis is delighted to have secured Sutton’s services.

“It’s obviously very unfortunate that Mark has picked up an injury, especially on the eve of the season, but we have moved quickly to bring in a very talented short-term replacement in Matt,” he said.

“He was one of the standout goalkeepers in the A-League last term and will compete strongly with Cameron Cook for that starting spot in goal.”

Glory’s 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign will get underway this Saturday when Wellington Phoenix will provide the opposition at HBF Park (kick-of at 6:45pm).
