Glory youngsters to play in QBE Night Series

Perth Glory Youth side will take part in the 2016 NPL QBE Night Series starting January, after the draw was made last week at Football West headquarters in East Perth.

It’s the first season Perth Glory major sponsor QBE insurance have the naming rights for the pre-season tournament, while a change in the National Youth League fixtures has allowed the Glory youngsters to join the competition for the first time.

The QBE Night Series kicks off in January at five venues across the metropolitan area, and will consist of two groups of six NPL clubs. The venues for the group games are Inglewood Stadium, Dalmatinac Park, Macedonia Park and Percy Doyle Reserve, while Dorrien Gardens will host the finals.

Glory has been drawn in Group A, along with 2015 PS4NPLWA Champions Bayswater City, last season’s Night Series winners Floreat Athena, a new look Inglewood United, Cockburn City and Subiaco AFC.

Group B is comprised of last season’s State League Cup winners Sorrento, along with Stirling Lions, Balcatta, ECU Joondalup, Perth SC and Armadale.

Perth Glory QBE Night Series Fixtures are:

Rd 1 – Sunday January 31 v Bayswater City – Dalmatinac Park 5pm

Rd 2 – Saturday February 6 v Floreat Athena – Dalmatinac Park 8pm

Rd 3 – Friday February 12 v Subiaco AFC – Macedonia Park 6.30pm

Rd 4 – Sunday February 21 v Cockburn City – Dalmatinac Park 5pm

Rd 5 – Sunday February 28 v Inglewood United – Inglewood Stadium 5pm
