Glory swoop for exciting young attacking duo

Perth Glory is delighted to announce that exciting young attackers Adam Bugarija and Abdelelah Faisal have both signed for the club.

Bugarija (19) has joined on a three-year contract, while Faisal (19) has penned a one-year deal.

The club’s latest new recruits have been standout performers in the NSW NPL and NSW State League for Western Sydney Wanderers and Bulls FC Academy respectively.

Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis is confident that Bugarija and Faisal can be key figures for the club in the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League campaign and beyond.

“We’re thrilled to have them on board, two extremely talented and hungry players,” he said.

Stan on Bugarija: “Adam is an out and out number ten who I think is really special.

“He’s got great vision, can score long-range bombs and is technically very, very good.

“He’s one for the future and I’m pretty sure he’ll get game time next season.”

Stan on Faisal: “In terms of his style, I would liken Abdelelah to Mo Salah from Liverpool.

“He’s so tricky, can play on the left, up front or as a number ten and has huge potential.

“When we unleash him next season, I’m confident he’ll make a big impact.”

Adam Bugarija

“When I spoke to Stan [Lazaridis] about my future at Perth Glory, it made my decision easy.

“I was impressed with the belief he has in me and the vision the club has over the next few years.

“I can’t wait to start with the team and work hard to earn my spot in the squad.

“I’m looking forward to performing well with any opportunity I get given and helping the team as much as possible.”

19-year-old Bugarija is a Sydney United product who spent two years with Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb before returning to Australia to join Western Sydney Wanderers in 2023.

He has scored eight goals for the WSW Academy side in the NPL NSW this season, linking up particularly effectively with another of Glory’s off-season recruits, Nathanael Blair.

Bugarija’s performances in 2024 have further reinforced his status as one of the brightest young midfield prospects in the country.

Abdelelah Faisal

“I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited to see what my future holds at Perth Glory.

“When I was first approached by Glory, I immediately knew that this club was heading in a great direction and would be the best place for me to start my senior career and show what I can do on the field.

“I believe I can bring something new to the table and help the team.

“I’m very excited to learn from the talented players I will be around and improve my game day by day.”

Faisal hit the headlines earlier this year when he scored back-to-back hat-tricks for Bulls FC Academy in FNSW League One.

The versatile attacker was previously on the books of Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC, for whom he featured regularly in the NPL NSW.

He also represented Rangers in the 2023 Australia Cup, starting in their Round of 32 victory over Canberra Croatia FC.
