Perth Glory FC is pleased to confirm the appointment of Toby Horak as the Club’s Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Perth Glory FC is pleased to confirm the appointment of Toby Horak as the Club-s Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Horak, who has a Masters degree in Exercise Science from Griffith University on the Gold Coast, joins the club following having previously been Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Subiaco Football Club and with earlier roles at the Gold Coast Suns and Brisbane Lions.

The Club is also pleased to further confirm that for the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League it will be working with Edith Cowan University-s, School of Exercise and Health Sciences, to provide additional expertise in various aspects of strength and conditioning and sports science to the Club-s football department.

This arrangement will allow for selected undergraduate and postgraduate students the opportunity to work closely with Horak, and will strengthen the ability to deliver essential sport science support to the club-s A-League team and National Youth League players. Through this arrangement with Edith Cowan University-s School of Exercise and Health Sciences, the Club will also have access to their state of the art sports science laboratories and equipment at its various training facilities and on campus.

“The club is pleased to have Toby join a much expanded coaching setup for the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season” Jason Brewer, Glory CEO said.

“We have completed a thorough review of our football department structure, and the decision was made very quickly to significantly broaden the strength and conditioning capabilities of the Club” Brewer added.

Head Coach Kenny Lowe is also delighted to have Horak at the Club and said “Toby already has a good record of developing and delivering strength and conditioning programs and implementing injury prevention techniques. We have reviewed his rehabilitation programming and delivery as well as his establishment of match day and player specific nutrition strategies and believe he will be a valuable addition to the Club”

“He will be supported through our association with Edith Cowan University, who are widely recognised for their excellence in the areas of Sport Science, Strength and Conditioning and they have the only undergraduate programme in Football Sport Science in Australia” Lowe added.

Horak is delighted to have joined Perth Glory and is looking forward to the start of pre-season training and the season ahead.

Horak will join up with the Perth Glory squad when pre-season training for the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League commences on 18 June 2014.
