Perth’s Josh Risdon is relishing a second consecutive Westfield FFA Cup final appearance after Glory dispatched Melbourne City 3-1 in the semi final at nib Stadium on Wednesday night.
Glory took a 2-1 lead to half-time thanks to goals from Gyorgy Sandor and a Ben Garuccio own goal either side of debutant Matt Millar’s header for City.
The visitors tried hard to get back into the contest after the break but it was in vain as Chris Harold added a third for Glory to ice the result.
Glory surge into Westfield FFA Cup Final
Glory will meet the winner of next Wednesday’s FFA Cup second semi-final between Hume City and Melbourne Victory in next month’s decider.
“It was great to get the result tonight and I think the boys deserved it,” Risdon told Fox Sports after the game.
“We’re back in another final and hopefully we can go one step further.”
After two losses in the opening two rounds of the Hyundai A-League, the incredible Cup form of Glory might just spark a renaissance for Kenny Lowe’s men in the league.
“Our first two games of the A-League haven’t been too good. We spoke about it during the week, we wanted to stamp our [authority] in this cup.
“We’ve done that tonight, we’re into the final and hopefully this form continues onto Sunday against Adelaide [in the league].”
City scorer, debutant Matt Millar, lamented a lack of quality in the attacking third for the visitors City.
“We lacked a bit of clinical finishing in the final third.
“We had a lot of possession, it was just a bit disappointing we couldn’t finish some of those chances,” he said.
