Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that defender Jacob Tratt has signed a one-year contract with the club.

The 24-year-old spent much of last season with Sydney FC after joining them on an injury-replacement contract and he featured on nine occasions for the Sky Blues.

Originally from Dubbo in New South Wales, he skippered Sydney FC to the Foxtel Y-League title in 2014 during his first stint with the club, while his maiden Hyundai A-League experience came with Wellington Phoenix for whom he made 20 starts during the 2016-17 campaign.

Tratt, who stands 1.90m tall and can operate equally effectively in the centre or on the right side of the defence, is relishing the prospect of getting the Glory chapter of his career underway.

“I want to challenge and push myself again,” he said.

“I feel that I will grow as a player working with (Head Coach) Tony Popovic, learn a lot from him and achieve the goals that I have set myself.

“Even after just one training session, I can see why he gets the best out of his players and I’m really excited for this year.”

Perth Glory CEO Tony Pignata is thrilled to have secured Tratt’s services.

“We beat off stiff competition from a number of other clubs to get Jacob on board,” he said.

“In addition to retaining the bulk of the squad that performed so well last season, our aim is to inject further quality and Jacob, along with Bruno Fornaroli, Dane Ingham and Nick D’Agostino certainly does that.”

Club Football Director Jacob Burns, meanwhile, feels that the new signing will increase what is already a very high level of competition for places within the Glory squad.

“Jacob is a talented young player who is hungry to succeed,” he said.

“He is a strong defender who is comfortable in possession and his arrival is another key component in our drive to secure sustained success.”

Further player announcements are expected in the near future.
