Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that exciting young striker Nathanael Blair has signed a two-year deal with the club.
A quick, rangy and powerful forward, Blair played much of his junior football for APIA Leichardt before signing a scholarship contract with Western Sydney Wanderers in 2022.
He made his A-League debut against Wellington Phoenix later that year and has subsequently taken his tally of senior appearances to seven.
The 20-year-old has been in fine form for the Wanderers Academy side this season and is currently joint-third in the NSW NPL goalscoring chart having found the net on 13 occasions.
Blair is now excited to be embarking upon a new chapter of his career here in the West.
“When I was approached by Glory and told all about the project going on here, I was instantly intrigued,” he said.
“The shift in focus to youth within the league has opened up doors for many young players and I’m ready to make the most of the opportunity I’ve been given to hopefully score goals for this club.
“I’m looking forward to getting settled in and beginning working among some very talented boys.”
“Perth is a beautiful city with an incredible community in and around HBF Park and with the vision and direction Glory are headed, I believe we can take this club back where it belongs.”
Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis, meanwhile, feels that Blair’s signing represents a genuine coup for the club.
“He’s an exciting addition who brings electric pace and is also a tall striker who can hold the ball up,” he said.
“I believe he can successfully partner Adam Taggart and provide a different dynamic which the side was missing last year.
“Nathanael is young and hungry and the moment I was made aware that he wanted to come, it was a no-brainer because I believe he will play for Australia one day.
“It’s a massive signing.”
The following players are now under contract for 2024/25: Oli Sail, Cameron Cook, Robbie Cook, Josh Risdon, Riley Warland, Anas Hamzaoui, Kaelan Majekodunmi, Andriano Lebib, Zach Lisolajski, Jacob Muir, Luke Bodnar, Jarrod Carluccio, Trent Ostler, Mustafa Amini, Brandon O’Neill, Jaylan Pearman, Khoa Ngo, Adam Zimarino, Adam Taggart, David Williams, Nathanael Blair.
Contract negotiations are ongoing with a number of other first-team squad members and further announcements will be made shortly, along with details of new player signings.
