Glory skipper Taggart named in All Stars squad to face Newcastle United

Glory skipper Adam Taggart has today been named in the 2024 A-League All Stars squad which will face English Premier League giants Newcastle United at Marvel Stadium on Friday 24 May (kick-off at 3:05pm WST, 5:05pm Local time).

The fixture forms a major part of Global Football Week Melbourne and the squad is set to assemble in the Victorian capital next week, with an open training session for fans to be held on Tuesday 21 May at AAMI Park.

The All Stars squad, which also includes Socceroo Matthew Leckie, Bayern Munich-bound forward Nestrory Irankunda and German midfielder Tolgay Arslan, will be coached by Patrick Kisnorbo who is excited by the prospect of the showpiece event.

“There is no doubting the talent currently playing in the Isuzu UTE A-League Men,” he said.

“Within this squad we have a number of rising stars, Socceroos and international stars who will come together and compete with one of English football’s biggest clubs – Newcastle United.

“I look forward to working with this group along with the final additions to the squad ahead of what will be a big night for Australian football.

“This squad is excited for this challenge, especially in front of fans who love our game and they can’t wait to test themselves against world class players who play in the best league in the world.”

Global Football Week Melbourne will be telecast in Australia live and free on 10 Bold and streamed exclusively on 10 Play and Paramount+.
