Perth Glory is delighted to announce that talented teenage trio Morgan Aquino, Abbey Meakins and Leticia McKenna have all been signed for the Westfield W-League 2018/19 Season.

Young Matildas’ goalkeeper Aquino transitioned from a scholarship to a full contract last season when she served as deputy to first-choice Mel Maizels, while midfielder Meakins was also a member of the squad last term on scholarship terms and has now returned on a full contract.

16-year-old McKenna recently capped a breakout season in the NTC by being named Player of the Tournament at the NTC Challenge.

All three are looking to force their way into the plans of Head Coach Bobby Despotovski during what is shaping up to be another thrilling W-League campaign.

“It’s very exciting to be a part of the squad and I can’t wait for the season to start,” said Meakins, whose sentiments were echoed by Aquino.

“The squad looks very strong this year and we’re training hard and raring to go,” she said.

As for McKenna, she is thrilled to be getting her first taste of W-League football.

“It’s fantastic to be developing my game and working alongside such a talented group of players,” she said. “It’s a great opportunity and I’m really enjoying it.”

Despotovksi, meanwhile, is expecting the youngsters to increase the level of competition within what appears to be a strong Glory squad.

“Morgan, Abbey and Leticia are all young players with great potential,” he said.

“Morgan has worked hard on her fitness and returned in great nick, while Abbey has been testing herself by training with Glory’s NPL boys and Leticia is a very exciting attacking midfielder who can use both feet and already has a great understanding of the game.

“They’ll all be pushing for game time this year and that can only be a good thing for them and for the rest of the squad.”

Further major signing announcements are expected in the very near future.
