Perth Glory have warmed up for Saturday-s blockbuster against Celtic FC with a huge win against the WA State team at Dorrien Gardens tonight.
In a 13 goal thriller, Perth Glory showed their class with an emphatic 9-4 victory, their biggest winning margin against the State team.
Leading 3-1 at half-time, thanks to goals from Travis Dodd (two) and Steven McGarry, Glory coach Ian Ferguson played his younger players in the second half and they didn-t disappoint.
“It was a great hit out for us,” Ferguson said.
“Obviously the first half was our first team except Blamo Quaqua, who did really well, and then in the second half the young kids did really well.”
Josh Risdon, Reece Vittiglia (two), Adam Taggart (two) and Tommy Amphlett all added goals after the interval as the crowd of 1589 were treated to a free-flowing contest.
Dutch defender Bas van den Brink, star striker Shane Smeltz and Republic of Ireland midfielder Liam Miller all started their first games for Perth Glory, playing the first half.
Despite arriving in Perth only six days ago, Miller was impressive as the Glory-s attacking midfielder behind the classy Smeltz.
The Glory-s next game is now against former European champions Celtic on Saturday. Kick-off is 5pm.
