Perth Glory will kick-start their 2018 NPLWA season on Saturday when they take on local powerhouse, Perth Soccer Club, at E&D Litis Stadium in the opening round of the Night Series.
The Glory NPL side have been working extremely hard during pre-season and have played a number of games to prepare for the Night Series, including fixtures against Forrestfield United, ECU Joondalup and Perth SC before Christmas.
And Glory Youth Head Coach John Gibson feels that the group is gelling nicely.
“Obviously we’ve a number of players in our Foxtel Y-League squad plus integrating our younger group,” he said.
“We’ve been pretty happy with the way they have performed in the trial games to date and the exposure to senior football for many of them has been invaluable.”
Gibson conceded that Perth SC will provide a stern challenge, but believes that his group are relishing the opportunity of going toe-to-toe with one of the tournament favourites.
“It’s a knock-out competition and a trophy to play for, so we will be doing all we can to perform to our maximum and move through to the next round,” he said.
“Perth SC finished third in the table last season and lost to champions Bayswater in the Top Four Finals. They always have a strong squad, so we know we will be in for a tough game. Our plan will be consistent and focus on a process-orientated approach leading to a strong performance.”
