The entertainment won’t be restricted to the pitch when Perth Glory welcome Melbourne Victory to nib Stadium this Australia Day long weekend, with a smorgasbord of activities planned for the Round 15 clash.

A sausage sizzle, concert, pyrotechnics, sponsor giveaways plus a special appearance from Glory’s number one ticket holder, sports legend and former Australian of the Year, Dawn Fraser, headline the pre-game entertainment before play gets under way at 5pm (local) this Sunday.

The fun will begin with local Perth band Darren Reid & The Soul City Groove performing a 35 minute set on the north-east side of the ground while the teams are doing their warm-ups.

This will be followed by the Australian Anthem, to be performed by band member Jasmine Stone, who will be joined on stage by three time Olympic gold medallist Dawn Fraser.

The players will then walk out to a spectacular pyrotechnics show for what shapes as a pivotal clash in the Premiership race between the league leaders and title challengers.

Kenny Lowe’s side will be debuting a special Australia Day kit (pictured) created by Perth Glory fan Mark Rossi, which is aimed at capturing the pride and passion of being Australian.

Order of Australia inductee, Dawn Fraser, will return at half time to discuss the action on the pitch and how she likes to celebrate Australia Day.

To cap the afternoon’s spectacle fans will have the opportunity to enter the pitch and kick around footballs at full-time to get a feel of what it’s like to play on the lush nib Stadium surface.

Sunday’s match will also be the first time Glory fans get to see new German recruit Dragan Paljic in action, with the player excited to be making his club debut on such an occasion.

“I haven’t experienced an Australia Day clash before but I’m quickly looking forward to being part of it, wearing the state colours and seeing this huge event unfold,” said Paljic.

“Coming from Germany and having a Serbian background I know what it is to be proud of your state and country so I’m hoping to play and get a feel of the rivalry between these two powerhouse clubs.”
