School Sports WA has held the grand final of the Glory Girls Cup, which saw Phoenix take out their first Glory Girls State Championship.

The four semi finalists were decided after a lightning carnival battle between 10 primary schools from different regions in Perth.

The finals were held at Beeliar Reserve and some fantastic football skills were on display as Phoenix played Kinross in a tough match. Phoenix set the pace from the outset and beat their brave opponents 5 goals to 2.

In the other semi, Port Kennedy had much of the game against Forest Crescent, missing many good opportunities but it was their opponents who took their chances when they were presented and booked a place in the grand final with a 2 – nil win.

The big one was played under lights and was a very tight and exciting affair. In the end however, Most Valuable Player Jessica Wyatt scored the all-important late goal, giving Phoenix a thrilling win.
