Glory down ECU to maintain perfect start to Night Series

The PGFC Academy First Team maintained their 100% start to the 2022 NPL WA Night Series with a resounding 4-1 win over ECU Joondalup at Inglewood Stadium on Saturday.

Looking to build upon a Round One victory over Gwelup Croatia, the Glory youngsters were unable to find a way through in the first half, but moments after the re-start, Aidan Edwards opened the scoring.

A subsequent equaliser from the Jacks prompted the Academy youngsters to lift the tempo in the latter stages and they duly ran away with it as skipper Adam Zimarino and substitutes Joe Hobson and Matt George all found the net.

The result leaves Glory and Stirling Macedonia as the only sides boasting a 100% record in Group B and they go head-to-head at Percy Doyle Reserve on Saturday (kick-off at 7pm).

Newly-promoted Stirling secured an impressive 2-1 win over Bayswater City at the weekend having thumped Floreat Athena 7-3 in Round One.

The top two from Group B will meet the top two from Group A in next month’s semi-finals.
