Glory all set for homecoming as ALW fixtures are released

Australian Professional Leagues (APL) has today confirmed the fixtures for the Liberty A-League 2022/23 Season, with Glory set to play their first home game in almost a year when Adelaide United visit Macedonia Park on Sunday 27 November (4pm WST).

The travel restrictions introduced to combat COVID-19 meant that Alex Epakis’ side were able to play just once in WA last season and the Head Coach is understandably delighted at the prospect of returning to the atmospheric Stirling venue on a regular basis this year.

“The release of the draw is certainly exciting,” he said.

‘We have got an opportunity each week to test ourselves against strong opposition teams while showcasing our strengths and style.

“We will take each week in our stride and prepare ourselves as best as possible to compete with confidence.

“I know the players are going to certainly lift when they have the opportunity to play in front of our Members and supporters and our last memory at Macedonia Park [a dramatic win over Brisbane Roar] is a special one.

“We can’t wait to share more proud moments with everyone at our home!”

Glory’s campaign will get underway on Saturday 19 November with a trip to McKellar Park to lock horns with old rivals Canberra United and eight days later, they will make their welcome return to Macedonia Park to face Adelaide United.

December sees Epakis’ side play consecutive home games on Sunday 11th (v Melbourne Victory, 4pm WST) and Sunday 18th (v Canberra United, 4pm WST), with those fixtures bookended by away trips to Newcastle Jets (Saturday 3rd) and Melbourne City (Tuesday 27th).

2023 is set to start with a bang as the Women host league debutants Western United on New Year’s Day (4pm WST) and after a visit to AAMI Park to take on Melbourne Victory five days later, Wellington Phoenix will make their first ever ALW visit to Perth on Sunday 15 January (4pm WST).

Back-to-back away trips to last season’s Premiers Sydney FC (Saturday 21 January) and Western United (Saturday 4 February) are followed by three consecutive fixtures at Macedonia Park against Newcastle Jets (Sunday 12 February, 4pm WST), Brisbane Roar (Saturday 25 February, 4pm WST) and Western Sydney Wanderers (Sunday 5 March, 4pm WST).

Three of Glory’s final four games are on the road, starting at Adelaide United on Saturday 11 March and then the club’s maiden ALW away date with Wellington Phoenix on Saturday 18 March.

A potentially huge showdown with Melbourne City is the final home game of the regular season, (Sunday 26 March, 3pm WST) ahead of a Round 20 meeting with Brisbane Roar at Perry Park on Saturday 1 April.
