Glory’s Westfield W-League side are set to ramp up their preparations for the 2019/20 campaign when they take on the Gold Fields WA State Team at Sorrento’s Percy Doyle Reserve on Friday evening (kick off at 7pm, admission FREE).
With the start of the new Westfield W-League season less than three weeks away, Bobby Despotovski’s charges will be out to impress in the now-traditional Challenge Cup clash.
Ex-Glory player Danielle Brogan will take charge of the State Team squad which is set to include a number of others who have previously worn the purple, including Carla Bennett, Gabby Dal Busco and Emily Henderson.
No fewer than five Queens Park players have been selected, one of whom is 14-year-old starlet Poppie Hooks who was recently named 2019 Player of the Year for the Women’s Premier League Under-23 Division.
In terms of the Glory squad, meanwhile, the bulk of the players who featured in last season’s run to the Grand Final are likely to be involved, including Eliza Campbell, Natasha Rigby, Kim Carroll, Shannon May and Leticia McKenna.
We would urge as many members and fans as possible to get along to Percy Doyle Reserve for the latest instalment of a fixture that has provided plenty of excitement and drama in recent years.
