Fowler’s Ashes tribute

Perth Glory super star Robbie Fowler has paid tribute to his England’s Cricket team for retaining the Ashes.

Perth Glory super star Robbie Fowler has paid tribute to his England’s Cricket team for retaining the Ashes.

A renowned joker, Fowler proudly paraded a replica of the Ashes urn on the ground before the club’s game against Gold Coast on Monday night.

“It’s not every day we get the chance to retain the Ashes in Australia so it was just a little reminder to show everyone where they are going to remain for the next two years at least,” Fowler said.

“I’ve really enjoyed being in Australia for series and I have to confess my Australian teammates are really quiet again.

“To be honest, you wouldn’t know the final test is on in Sydney because my teammates have not said a word about the cricket since Boxing day.”

The Ashes banter in the Glory change rooms started back on day one of the series when Fowler took four of his team mates to the first test at the Gabba.

But since then Fowler says he struggled to find team mates to attend the test match in Perth and only Andy Todd, another Englishman wanted to go.
