The great man Robbie Fowler is back from England and ready for Sunday-s massive match against defending Hyundai A-League champions Sydney FC.
Today he chats to perthglory.com.au about his trip, the team and Wayne Rooney.
Robbie, how are you feeling after your break?
“Not bad actually, I think the little break may do me the world of good.”
And Ian Ferguson is now coach?
“I think a number of players have gone on record saying, how we were all behind Mitch.
“I don-t think we were never that bad but with the five losses that we’ve had, it can either go two ways, either everyone goes into a bit of a shell and you sort of dig yourself into a deeper hole or you can all come out fighting.
“From what I’ve witnessed in the short space of time I-ve been back, the lads are all behind the new gaffer Ian Ferguson, and everyone wants to do what-s right for him.”
Are you ready for a big game against Sydney?
“Well, I’m ready, whether it be Sydney, Adelaide or Gold Coast.
“They-re all massive games now for us and each game coming up, is a game where we need to get a result.
“Sydney are having a bit of a difficult time themselves, they haven-t won this year so it’s going to be a tough game because again they’ll be trying to get that first one whereas us, we just need a little of rub of the green, get one result, get probably an early goal and you’ll probably see a different Perth.”
And what about those Wayne Rooney rumours?
“Well, I mean, obviously everyone knows I went home.
“It’s probably only just come out lately about Wayne Rooney, but being in football, I found out a couple of weeks ago so I just had to come home and see if he’d be interested in coming to Perth.
“The signs were good. I was really pleased with the chat we had and we’ll see where it takes us.
“He’s very, very interested, yeah, so watch this space. Or listen to this space depends on how it’s going, but I sold Perth to him and told him what a lovely place it is.”
