Bruno Fornaroli and Elizabeth Anton were named Perth Glory’s 2021 Most Glorious Player (MGP) Award winners at Friday’s glittering awards night held at Crown Perth.
The MGP Award completed a hat-trick of honours on the night for Fornaroli, with the Uruguayan striker also being named Players’ Player of the Year and taking home the A-League Golden Boot.
Anton, meanwhile, was rewarded for a string of fine performances during what was her maiden Westfield W-League campaign, with her fellow-New Zealander, Lily Alfeld, also claiming a trophy in the form of the W-League Players’ Player of the Year Award.
Others to feature on the W-League honours list were WA duo Caitlin Doeglas and Hana Lowry who shared the W-League Golden Boot and Marianna Tabain who was acknowledged for reaching the milestone of 100 W-League games.
Another WA local, Luke Bodnar, rounded off a memorable week in which he signed a new, two-year deal with the club by being named the DT38 U-23 Best Player of the Year.
The A-League Goal of the Year Award went to Andy Keogh for his stunning, long-range effort against Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 21 and Diego Castro also claimed some silverware, twice taking the stage to collect the Media A-League Player of the Year Award and Members’ Player of the Year Award.
Glory CEO Tony Pignata was quick to congratulate all the winners and also acknowledge those who had helped the club to meet the challenges thrown up by what was a hugely-demanding season.
“It’s been fantastic to see the Glory family back together for this traditional and much-loved event,” he said, “and on behalf of everyone associated with the club, I’d like to salute all those who have taken out awards tonight.
“I’d also like to sincerely thank our Members and fans, sponsors and corporates and our players, coaches, support and office staff and volunteers for their fantastic support and hard work this year.
“Next season marks the 25th anniversary of this wonderful and unique football club and we are all now looking forward to marking that milestone in style on and off the field.”
