Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that Nikki Stanton has re-signed with the club for the Westfield W-League 2018/19 Season.
One of Glory’s best-loved overseas recruits, Stanton is poised for a fourth season in purple having debuted for the club back in 2015.
The 27-year-old is thrilled to be returning and is hoping for better luck with Glory this year after her 2017-18 campaign was severely disrupted by the broken arm she suffered during the Round 2 win at Brisbane.
“I’m extremely excited to be back,” she said. “Perth has turned into a home away from home for me.
“I’ve fallen in love with the city, the club and the girls and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season and hopefully getting a championship title.
“Avoiding any more freak injuries would also be nice!”
The midfielder began her career in her native Washington State with Seattle Sounders and then spent three highly-successful seasons at Sky Blue FC.
She duly signed for Chicago Red Stars earlier this year, went on to make 16 starts as the Illinois side finished fourth at the end of the regular season and was also the joint-winner of the club’s Iron Woman of Character award.
Renowned for her consistency and tenacity, Head Coach Bobby Despotovski is expecting Stanton to reinforce her reputation as one of the W-League’s most influential players.
“Nikki started at the club at the same time I did,” he said, “and she’s been great for us.
“She knows the league, she brings stability into the centre of midfield and I’m confident that she’ll perform once again to the high standards that she has set over the last few years.”
Further major signing announcements are expected in the very near future.
The new W-League season gets underway on Sunday 28 October, with Glory’s first home game at Dorrien Gardens on Saturday 17 November and you can grab your bargain membership HERE.
