Faisal at the double as Glory enjoy Tri Series workout

Abdul Faisal continued his impressive pre-season form by bagging two of the goals as Glory ran out 3-0 winners over Balcatta Etna in Sunday’s Tri Series at Dorrien Gardens.

David Williams bagged the other goal in what was Glory’s second 45-minute game of the day, the first having ended in a 0-0 draw with Perth SC.

The clash with the Azzurri saw Williams come close to opening his account for the day on two occasions inside the opening ten minutes, home ‘keeper Mateusz Zaniwski making two fine saves to keep the Glory skipper at bay.

Zawinski also kept out a near post effort from Adam Bugarija, before a goal-line clearance was required from Franc Gamiz Quer to foil the lively Williams.

Glory then came even closer to breaking the deadlock seven minutes from time when Faisal cut in from the left and unleashed a stunning strike which thumped against the crossbar.

David Zdrilic’s men were not to be denied once the clash with Balcatta got underway, however, hitting the front nine minutes in.

Brandon O’Neill supplied a pinpoint pass which allowed Faisal to get in behind and cross for Williams who made no mistake from close range.

Faisal then showed fine close skill on the edge of the box to carve out a shooting opportunity and duly drilled an effort past Connor Campbell in the Balcatta goal to double his side’s lead just after the half-hour mark.

And six minutes from time, a period of pinball in the Balcatta box ended with Faisal neatly tucking home his second and Glory’s third to round off another important pre-season hit-out.
