Epakis takes temporary charge of Academy First Team

Perth Glory can today confirm that the club’s Liberty A-League Head Coach Alex Epakis has taken charge of the PGFC Academy First Team on a temporary basis.

He will stand in for Ruben Zadkovich who was last week appointed as Head Coach of the ISUZU UTE A-League team until the end of the season.

Epakis, who will also continue in his existing Liberty A-League Head Coach role, is relishing the prospect of helping further the development of the exciting group of young players currently progressing through the Academy ranks.

“I am happy and eager to lead the Senior NPL Academy squad,” he said.

“As a club person, I want to do my part to provide support and help where I can during this transitional period within the club.

“I have previous experiences with youth boys’ football during my time at the Sydney FC Academy and senior men’s football while I was at Sydney University, so this type of experience certainly isn’t new to me.

“My focus will be on connecting with this young group of players to ensure that they are improving and ready to compete in all our upcoming fixtures.

“Finally, I am excited to get back into the day to day work of football, while maintaining my ALW commitment during the off-season.”

Epakis will take charge of the PGFC Academy First Team for the first time on Friday (1st April) when they host Floreat Athena at Crazy Domains Stadium at Hartfield Park.

The First Team made a winning start to their 2022 NPL WA campaign last weekend when they downed Inglewood United 2-1.
