Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that Diego Castro has re-signed with the club for another two seasons.
The former Johnny Warren Medal winner has opted to extend his spell here in the West having chalked up over 90 Hyundai A-League appearances and scored 38 goals since arriving in 2015.
And he is determined to do his part to build upon the club’s Premiership success this year.
“I have had a fantastic emotional relationship with the members and fans since the first day I arrived here,” he said, “and I want to keep that love story with the fans going.
“I’d like to thank everyone at the club; the owner, the staff and all my teammates.
“Now I want to help the club add another trophy to the Premiers’ Plate.
“With Tony Popovic here, the future of the club is in the best hands possible and I’m so grateful for all the help that he has provided me with this year.”
Perth Glory CEO Tony Pignata, meanwhile, is thrilled that Castro has put pen to paper on the deal.
“It’s fantastic that Diego will be able to cement his legacy in terms of what he and the club have achieved and are going to achieve in the future,” he said.
“We are all so happy that he will be a part of what promises to be a very bright future for Perth Glory.”
Those sentiments were echoed by Glory Football Director, Jacob Burns.
“Diego has been one of the greatest players that this club and the Hyundai A-League has seen,” he said.
“His legacy is already assured, but we all hope that he can further embellish that legacy by helping the club complete the Championship-Premiership double this season and secure more silverware in the seasons to come.
“This signing is another clear indication of the club’s ambition to achieve sustained success and a testament to the owner’s continued support in pursuit of that goal.”
