Perth Glory’s star players and community coaches spent a busy Easter holiday period training the next generation of budding footballers through an extensive Soccer Schools program.
The holiday clinics covered the Perth metropolitan area and a special regional visit to Dunsborough’s Playing Fields.
Glory striker Jamie Maclaren who finished the season with nine goals, said he was proud to have been part of the clinics.
“It was great fun, and I found there were many talented younsters all engaging in small sided games as well as performing at a decent level in the training exercises. It was enjoyable to see how much fun everyone was having!”
More than 300 children between the ages of four to 13, took part in Soccer Schools which is regarded as one of the best programs of its kind in Australia.
“I had a wonderful time, I remember playing in holiday clinics as a kid, I couldn’t get enough football and that hasn’t changed as an adult!” said Stephen Purton, Perth Glory’s newest Community and Development Officer.
Next on the agenda for Perth Glory’s Community Department will be the popular Glory Skills clinics set to take place at the Loftus Recreation Centre in Leederville and Bouncers in Joondalup.
