Djulbic wants to spoil Sydney’s Premiership party

Menacing Perth Glory defender Dino Djulbic is rallying his teammates to delay Sydney FC’s prospective minor premiership celebrations when they visit nib Stadium next weekend.

A win againt Perth Glory could seal the premiership for league leaders but Djulbic wants to use that as motivation to help Glory secure their chances of a home final.

“We haven’t had much success against them this year,” Djulbic said.

“But we don’t want them to win the minor Premiership here so we gotta try to do our best to spoil it for them.”

Djulbic registered his 120th Hyundai A-League game in the loss to Melbourne Victory last week, his 80th in purple, but the stubborn defender is focused on the team more-so than his individual achievements.

“Ït’s great for me but it was a bad result for us. We thought we’d go there and get a result but we made too many individual mistakes and it cost us in the end.

“We’ve got to make sure we don’t do those again.”

Glory have had the chance to rest and rejuvenate with a week off this due to the split round and the veteran stopper believes the break has come at an ideal time.

“We have a couple of injuries so it gives them time to come back hopefully and obviously after our loss, it’s good to regroup and kick on against Sydney next week.

“We’ve got three home games coming up and i think it’s a good time to recharge the batteries a bit before the finals.”

Perth Glory’s quest for a third-placed finish and an Asian Champions League berth resumes on Sunday March 26 against Sydney FC at nib Stadium.

Kick-off is at 4PM.
