DÉJÀ VU FOR GLORY IN FFA CUP

Old friendships will be tested when Perth Glory FC take on Victorian NPL outfit St Albans Saints in the Round of 16 of the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup next month.

It will be a sentimental battle for Perth Glory FC head coach, Kenny Lowe, as he goes head to head against Saints coach Toby Paterson. Lowe was Paterson’s coach in England before the pair made the move down under.

But Kenny Lowe stressed he expected a tough match from the Victorian division one team.

“They’ll have some quality in the side and if we’re lethargic or disrespectful we’ll get our backside felt.”

“I don’t think they’ll be a bogey team..I think we’ve got to treat the game in the right manner like we always do and hopefully we’ll progress.”

The clash means the team will have to travel away which Lowe says is frustrating for both players and fans.

“I think it would have been good for everyone to see the players that we’ve brought in they’ve already had a little taste against Malaga ….I think it would have been good for them to see what they can look forward to for the beginning of the season.”

Perth Glory FC were sent through to the round of 16, after Irish import Andy Keogh scored a brace against Newcastle Jets FC earlier this month.

Before the FFA cup clash Perth Glory FC will continue with its preseason campaign taking on Cockburn City SC in a friendly at Dalmatinac Park, Spearwood on Wednesday August 27.
