Debut delight for new duo

There were plenty of positives to take out of Sunday’s gutsy draw in the Hunter Valley against Newcastle, with the performances of our latest signings certainly high on the list.

Mitch Mallia, fresh from another stellar season with NPL NSW outfit Blacktown City, looked the part on his return to the Hyundai A-League with an industrious performance in the first-half.

The winger, known for his goalscoring prowess, was replaced at half time by Chris Harold purely for tactical reasons after a very promising first appearance in a Glory shirt.

Mallia’s positive attacking runs and willingness to get back and help out when needed exemplified the grit required to earn a result on the road and it’s the kind of attitude that should see the former Sydney FC man further endear himself to the Glory faithful.

The other debutant, who also marked his return to Australia’s top flight, was Jeremy Walker.

The former Melbourne Heart defender was thrown into the fray despite minimum preparation time and duly produced an industrious and solid, 90-minute performance at right-back.

The 24-year-old Tasmanian received plenty of praise from fans across social media, polling second to goalscorer Adam Taggart as Man of the Match on our Twitter page.

The two injury replacements are evidently hungry to prove they belong back in the A-League and they’ve certainly made a positive start as they look to resurrect their respective pro careers.

Both will be hoping to make their home debuts this Sunday as Glory search for their first win of the season against the Mariners.
