The date has been set for Glory’s night of nights, the Most Glorious Player Awards and it is no easy task to predict who will be taking out the major honours for our Men’s and Women’s teams.
Amidst the elegant surroundings of Perth’s Westin Hotel, the best individual achievements of 2025/26 will be acknowledged and celebrated in style on Tuesday 28 April.
Tickets available HERE.
Remarkably, a goalkeeper has never been crowned MGP for either the Men or the Women, but could that change this year with both Matt Sutton and Teresa Morrissey having enjoyed stellar debut seasons for the club?
Another strong contender for the Women’s MGP could be Tijan McKenna who took out the Players’ Player and Members’ Player of the Year Awards last year, while fellow-defenders Onyi Zogg and Grace Johnston may also be in the frame and there is a chance that the 2025 winner, Izzy Dalton, could go back-to-back.
The field appears to be similarly open for the Men whose award has been claimed by skipper Adam Taggart for the last two years straight.
In addition to the previously-mentioned Matt Sutton, Brian Kaltak might be in with a shout having performed strongly during his first campaign in purple, Scott Wootton and Charbel Shamoon may also come into the conversation and will Nicholas Pennington’s fine form in the second half of the season thrust him into the reckoning?
Looking beyond the MGP, there is set to be a similarly tight tussle for the respective Goal of the Year Awards.
Jaiden Kucharski’s last-gasp winner against Auckland FC at HBF Park would have to be in with a good chance of getting the nod, while Tom Lawrence may also be in the running, as could Seb Despotovski who opened his senior account with a fine finish against Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 7.
For the Women, Gabby Hollar’s cheeky chip in the away win over Newcastle Jets was certainly a memorable effort, Emma Tovar bagged a belter against Western Sydney Wanderers at Sam Kerr Football Centre and in the same game, Ella Lincoln’s first home goal for Glory was every bit as impressive as the acrobatic celebration that followed it.
With a number of other prestigious awards set to be handed out for representatives of both teams, including Young Player of the Year, Members’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year, it is shaping up to be another glittering awards night to remember!
