Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that defender Jessika Cowart and forward Susan Phonsongkham have both re-signed with the club for the 2024/25 A-Leagues Women’s season.
Philippines World Cup representative Cowart made a strong impression in what was her first ALW campaign last year, immediately establishing herself as a cornerstone of the Glory defence.
She went on to start all 22 games, playing a total of 1966 minutes, completing 40 interceptions along with 99 clearances and ranking in the league’s top ten for passes completed.
Phonsongkham, meanwhile, took her tally of appearances in purple to 38 last term and claimed a career-best season total of four goals, while also adding one assist.
The 23-year-old former Australia Under-19 international, who originally joined Glory in 2021, has carried her impressive ALW form into the Victoria NPLW in recent months, helping Preston Lions mount a serious challenge for the title.
Glory Head Coach, Stephen Peters, believes that the duo will have vital roles to play in the upcoming season.
“Jess is an experienced, composed and strong defender who provides a commanding presence in a vital area of the pitch,” he said.
“Having settled so quickly in what was her first ALW season last year, we expect her to go from strength to strength in 2024/25.
“Susan is a key attacker for us as she is a constant threat in the final third,” he said.
“In addition to her finishing ability, she provides a creative spark which will help drive us forward as an attacking force and we believe that her best is still yet to come.”
Further signing announcements will be made shortly.
