Busy weekend in store for Glory youngsters

A busy weekend lies in store for the PGFC Academy who face fixtures on both Friday and Sunday.

The first of those games will see the Glory youngsters open their 2020 NPL Night Series campaign by visiting Percy Doyle Reserve to take on Jamie Harnwell’s Sorrento (kick-off at 6.30pm).

Balcatta will then take on Armadale at the same venue as part of a double-header, with Pool 2’s other two teams, Inglewood United and newly-promoted Gwelup Croatia, meeting at Dorrien Gardens as part of another double-header on Saturday.

Following their clash with the Gulls, Glory’s attentions will switch to the Foxtel Youth League and their final game of the year in that competition.

Melbourne City will provide the opposition at Dorrien Gardens (kick-off at 10.30am, admission FREE) and Head Coach Richard Garcia is hoping that his charges can finish with a flourish.

“It’s been a learning year for what is a very young group,” he said, “and the players have had to stand up and become leaders.

“To round it off with a win would be a great reward for all the hard work that the players and staff have put in.”

Glory’s previous meeting with City this term ended in an extraordinary 6-6 draw at CB Smith Reserve, with Ciaran Bramwell helping himself to a hat-trick for the visitors who fought back from 6-3 to secure a share of the spoils.

That draw was one of four that City have recorded this season and they currently sit one place and five points above Glory in Conference A.

It would be great to see as many Glory members and fans as possible getting along to support the lads!
