Brogan eager for three points against former club

Perth Glory Women return to Ashfield Reserve this Sunday, with a chance to avenge the 1-0 loss suffered at the hands of Sydney FC in RD 4.

A Kyah Simon penalty was the difference, as the Sky Blues collected three points that day.

Glory defender Danielle Brogan said she’s looking forward to playing against her former club this weekend.

“There’s added motivation playing them, added excitement as well. I’m a competitive person and I know my friends over there are as well. So once we cross the white lines, they’re the opponent”.

Brogan played for the Sky Blues from 2008 until 2014 before playing seven games for Adelaide prior to her arrival at Glory.

“It will be my third time playing them, and I’ve yet to win so I really want to collect the three points this time”.

Brogan said last time the two teams met, Glory held up well defensively, neutralizing the key players in the Sydney attack, and were unlucky not to earn a point.

“We’ve been working on defending their rotation. We need to concentrate on ourselves more than Simon, Kennedy or anyone else. We held up against them last time other than a scrappy penalty, and I think we can keep them quiet again.”

After missing out on the previous home match with an ankle injury, Brogan is excited to get back in front of the Glory Women faithful.

“We’re motivated to perform in front of the home crowd. We’ve had a couple of tough results there, but we know if we put together a 90 minute performance and take lessons from the Victory loss and learn from the rest of our games, we can collect the three points.”

Brogan was back on the pitch last Sunday, helping her team earn a road point in difficult conditions against Adelaide United.

“I definitely think we deserved the three points based on the chances we created, but it was our own doing not to score them. I think if we had played at Coopers we could have opened them up a bit more, but we got a point and we have to look forward to Sydney now.”

The match is set to kick-off at 4pm on Sunday at Ashfield Reserve.
