Bramwell and Zimarino on target in vital win over Rockingham

Ciaran Bramwell and Adam Zimarino were the men on target as the PGFC Academy First Team secured a vital 2-0 win over Rockingham City in Saturday’s NPL WA clash at Crazy Domains Stadium, Hartfield Park.

The victory tightened Glory’s grip on fourth spot and was the perfect response to last week’s narrow defeat at the hands of third-placed Sorrento.

Ruben Zadkovich’side had already gone close through Giordanó Colli’s free-kick when Bramwell fired them in front in the 20th minute, the striker surging his way into the box before beating Cyril Sharrock in the City goal with a low, angled shot.

To their credit, the relegation-threatened visitors continued to battle away gamely, but their defence was breached again just short of the hour-mark when Colli released the in-form Zimarino who managed to force home his 11th goal of the season despite the close attention of several defenders.

Substitute Andrew Maranta then came close to icing the cake late on, firing narrowly over the bar following another sweeping move from the hosts.

The in completed a clean sweep for the men in purple on the day, with the Under-20s maintaining their title challenge via a 5-0 win and the Under-18s also turning on the style to secure an impressive 7-0 victory.
